Gwennili embroidered sailor smocks for la Semaine du Golfe
Embroidery on authentic Chaloupe jacket for La semaine du Golfe
Our workshop embroidered the traditional Gwennili foresail on our authentic Chaloupe smocks for the entire crew of the boat for the Gulf Week. The Gwennili is a replica, identically built, of the Gwennili foresail (which means "sea swallow" in Breton) dated 2022. It was built using traditional techniques and will be made available to the public, particularly schools, to revive local maritime history. This construction has made it possible to better understand, preserve, and transmit ancient maritime know-how as well as the socio-economic context and fishing practices of the 19th and early 20th centuries. Gwennili is thus a faithful and vivid reconstruction of maritime heritage.
The 13th edition of the Semaine du Golfe took place from May 26 to June 1, 2025. Gulf Week is an original maritime event created in 2001 which aims to showcase the nautical and cultural assets of the Gulf of Morbihan. Organized by an association, this free event brings together every year. On the program you can find exhibitions and activities, tastings, model building, music, shows and evening entertainment, walking tours along the entire coast, but above all the grand parade of breathtaking boats! Did you miss it? Don't panic, Gulf Week returns every year to Morbihan! So see you next year!
